 Below are current tax preparation pricing estimates. 


The estimates are based on the typical time required to complete the more common tax forms. Your final preparation fee will depend on complexity and the time it takes to complete your return.

Tax Preparation Pricing

Form 1040/1040X with One State

$200 - $300

 Each tax return includes:

  • Preparation of your current year federal and state return based on your income documents (W-2s, 1099-Rs, etc.)
  • All Non-Itemized Tax Deductions: Educator Expenses, Student Loan Interest, Traditional IRA, etc.
  • Free prior-year review of last year's tax return for any errors or missed deductions
  • Prior year return preparation - add $50

IRS and State Tax Credits

$50 - $100

Fee is per tax credit and based on the time it takes to complete the required forms.  Below are the more common tax credits.

  • Child Tax Credit and Other Dependent Tax Credit  
  • Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit  
  • American Opportunity Tax Credit   
  • Lifetime Learning Tax Credit  
  • Tuition and Fees Deduction  
  • Foreign Tax Credit  
  • Residential Energy Tax Credit  
  • Earned Income Tax Credit 
  • MD Senior Tax Credit

Schedule A Itemized Deductions

$100 - $175

  • Mortgage Interest
  • Real Estate Taxes
  • Charitable Donations: cash, non-cash, charitable mileage
  • Medical Expenses: Medical Insurance, Long Term Care Insurance, Out of Pocket Medical Expenses, Medical Mileage

Schedule B Dividends and Interest

$10 - $75

Schedule C Profit or Loss from Business

$100 - $400

Pricing depends on complexity and time required to complete the necessary forms and supporting schedules. Typical Schedule C items may include:

  • Sales totals and deductible expenses by category
  • Mileage deduction 
  • Home office deduction (simplified vs regular method)
  • Self-employed health insurance deduction
  • Depreciation calculations and schedules
  • Retirement calculations (Solo 401k/SEP/SIMPLE IRA)

Schedule D Capital Gains and Losses

$25 - $250

Pricing depends on complexity, number of brokerage accounts, capital gain/loss activities: 

  • Short and long term capital gains/losses, including capital loss carryover
  • Virtual currency transactions
  • Primary residence home sale (including gain exclusion)
  • Kiddie Tax on Dependent children's unearned income
  • Foreign Tax Credit

Schedule E Rental Income

$125

We will collect your totals with this Rental Income Organizer

  • Fee is per rental property
  • In the year of rental purchase or sale, add $100

Multi-State Returns

$100+

Fee depends on complexity and number of states involved

Other Tax Situations

$50 - $150+

These items include greater analysis, complexity, and time to complete, and/or there are additional due diligence requirements by the IRS. 

  • Earned Income Tax Credit
  • Head of Household Filing Status
  • Married Filing Separate (Two Tax Returns)
  • Schedule K-1 and additional states, as necessary
